Alumni Meet held at Kaveri College

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pune had arranged Alumni Meet in the college on 11th February 2017. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha graced the occasion along with the Principal Dr. S.B.Kharosekar. Vice Principal and Head of Alumni Association Committee Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, staff members and the past students were present for the occasion.

The programme started with the address of Mrs. Malati Kalmadi Secretary, Kannada Sangha   in which she welcomed all the past students for the meeting. She said that Alumni are our brand ambassadors and asked suggestions from Alumni to make Kaveri one of the best institutes in Pune. On this occasion Principal Dr. S.B.Kharosekar addressed the Alumni and said that Alumni reunion is an important day for the college. He also shared the progress made by the college in the recent years.

Alumni of the college expressed to lend their helping hands and support the Institute.  Many alumni shared their industry experiences which provided valuable inputs to college Management. The college is looking forward for a greater partnership with Alumni in the days to come.The meet received an overwhelming response. The Alumni Association promised to come together for new developmental activities for the college in the future. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni. Compeered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.



Annual Prize Distribution Function of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce to be held on 24th February, 2017

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce has organized Annual Prize Distribution Function on Friday, 24th February, 2017. 

Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, will preside over the function. The Prizes will be given to the students of the college at the hands of the Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Mr. Sudhir Gadgil, a Renowned Media Personality. The prizes for excellent performance of students in Academics, NSS, Sports, Cultural and Special Achievements on this occasion. In addition, special achievements by teaching and non-teaching staff members will also be acknowledged on this occasion. Dr. S. B. Kaveri College conducts Inter-college Project Competition under Science Association


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce under Science Association conducted the Inter-college Project Competition on 28th Jan, 2017. The inauguration of the competition took place at the hands Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce.
Mr. Pratik Phatak, Mr. Pratik Adsul and Ms. Abhaya Parihar from H.V. Desai College won the first prize for their project titled ‘Caring for Life’ and the consolation prizes were shared by two teams, Mr.Pratik Sonawne from Kaveri College for his project ‘Tours and Travels’ and Mr. Shubham Alchetti for his project ‘Tech Pedia’. The competition was judged by Mr. Abhay Chaudhari from BMC Software. The competitions received good response from various colleges like Sinhgad College, PVG College, H.V. Desai College, Garware College, Modern College, etc.  Situated  in Pune.

Dr. Jayashree Bangali Co-ordinator and Head, Science Association of the college proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Pallavi Joshi, Asst. Professor, Department of Computer Science compered the Programme. 


Yuva Spandan, the annual Five day Cultural Fest of Kaveri College concluded with grand success







In its 8th year, Yuva Spandan, the annual cultural festival of Kaveri College is the most awaited event of the year and attracts participants from various colleges from the city and around. The five-day event started on 4th February 2017 with intra-college competitions such as Nail-art,  Mehendi, Treasure hunt along with traditional and retro day and inter-college competitions like Street Play, Fashion Show and Dance. The event ended on 8th February with the Annual Social Gathering which received stupendous response from students.

The college campus was abuzz with activities on Traditional Day and Retro day. Ms. Apoorva Deokar (TYBCOM) and Mr. Rupesh Dhanve (TYBCOM) were declared the winners for Traditional Day whereas Ms. Sayali Bhagat (TYBCOM) and Mr. Gopal Rathi (TYBCOM) won the Retro Day awards of Ms. Mumtaz and Mr. Rajesh Khanna respectively. The Street Play Competition was won by Modern Law College. The first Prize worth Rs 3000/-, certificates and Trophy was won by Modern College and the Second Prize Rs 2000/-, certificates and trophy was won by Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The competition was judged by Mr. Swamiraj Bhise, Pune and Dr. Atul Kulkarni, Garware College of Commerce. Among other competitions, Mehendi and Nail-Art competitions too were held and saw good response from various colleges.  In Mehandi Competition, Ms.Sejal Solanki (T.Y.B.Com) won the first prize of Rs.500, trophy and certificate. The second prize comprising of certificate and trophy was won by Ms.Manisha Jaiswal  (T.Y.B.Sc.). Ms. Neelam Chorghade (TYBCOM) won the first prize of Rs. 500/-, Certificate and Trophy and Mr.  Swaraj Thakur (SYB.Sc.) won the second prize comprising of a certificate and a trophy in Nail Art Competition. The competition was judged by Ms.Sayee Kulkarni and Ms.Shweta Bhagat

The Fashion Show Competition was won by Marathwada Mitramandal College of Engineering. Mr. Amit Solanke of MIT and Ms. Sakshi Borse of MMCOE were selected Mr. Yuva Spandan and Ms. Yuva Spandan respectively The Fashion Show was judged by renowned models Mr. Nikhil and Ms. Sagarika who specially appreciated the seamless conduct of the show. In Intercollegiate General Quiz Competition 10 teams from various colleges participated. A team from MIT, Pune, won the first prize of Rs. 1000/-, certificate and a trophy. The second prize comprising Rs. 500/-, certificate and trophy was won by a team from Symbiosis College of Economics. In Treasure Hunt Competition, Mr. Anuj Shenoy and Mr. Ashwin Masurkar from TYBSc Computer Science won the First prize worth Rs 1000/- , trophy and certificates and the Second Prize which comprises of trophy and certificates was won by Mr. Umesh Nag, Ms. Apoorva Magdum from TYBSc Computer Science. The winners of solo dance competition are Mr. Sujit Chorghe from Modern College and Mr. Pintu Yadav of Kaveri College who received the prize comprised of Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 respectively alongwith a trophy and a certificate. The winners of Group Dance competition was Mr. Aniket Chorge and Team from MIT College and Mr. Niranjan Veer and Team from JSPMS College secured the second prize. The 1st prize comprised of Rs. 5000, a trophy and certificates and 2nd prize comprised of Rs. 2000, a trophy and certificates.

Yuva Spandan ended with Annual Social Gathering of the college which consisted of more than 25 performances related to music, dance and drama. About 80 students from the college participated in the extravaganza and showcased their creativity and talent. They presented fusion dances on foot-tapping numbers which include Bharatnatyam, kathak, popping, locking, lavani, lyrical hip hop etc. 
The students of Kaveri Studio sang current chartbuster songs with live performances. They also performed a jugalbandi of musical instruments flute, table and guitar. The drama team showcased the one Act Play ‘Mukhtalif’ which had won accolades at renowned Purushottam Karandak. The students also presented fashion show on the themes of Bollywood and Formal fashion. The fashion show was judged by Dr. Jayashri Bangali and Ms. Shweta Bapat, Mr. Atharva Pendse, FYBCOM and Ms. Sayali Nivekar, FYBSC (CS) won the title of Mr. And Ms. Kaveri  respectively.


For various events of Yuva Spandan  Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice-President, Kannada Sangha. Mr. B.Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha graced the occasion. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Cultural Head, Teaching staff, non-teaching staff and all the enthusiastic volunteers and students of the college were present.

Two workshops held under Adult continuing Education and Extension Unit at Kaveri College

Renowned psychotherapist and Counsellor Mrs. Ravibala Lele said that it is high time now that we look inward and pay more attention to self image than Selfie, the virtual image. She was speaking in a two day workshop on Counseling organized on 1-2 February 2017 by Adult Continuing Education and Extension unit of Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University. The workshop was inaugurated by Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Trustee, Kannada Sangha, Pune and Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in the presence of Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty Vice Principal, Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Co-ordinator, Adult Continuing Education and Extension unit of the college.
While talking on the topic ‘Selfie to Self’ Mrs. Lele further made students aware of the effects of virtual excess. She said that the pleasure and satisfaction received by virtual world is short lived and our virtual image leaves negative impact for longer duration which leads to frustration, depressions and other psychological problems. She emphasized on seeking professional help in such circumstances and avoiding further damage to the personality.  Mrs. Shubhada Tamhankar of Agarkar Research Institute spoke on ‘How to handle exam stress?’  She pointed out that many students treat exam as a biological challenge whereas it is a psychological challenge. She discussed various problems faced by students while preparing and appearing for exams. She gave guidelines for better concentration and also emphasized on the importance of healthy diet during exams.
 
In the second Workshop on Employment and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Suresh Umap, Regional Officer, Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (MCED), Pune spoke on the topic of Entrepreneurship. He discussed the emerging fields for starting business such as food industry, clothing, construction, education, health and entertainment. He also shared information about various government schemes such as PMEGP (Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme), SMS (Seed Money Scheme) for the promotion of entrepreneurship. While speaking on the topic ‘Employability’ Dr. Ashish Puranik, Vice Principal, BMCC, emphasized on the importance of academics and knowledge. He said knowledge comprises of information, skill, and value addition and is an important component of education. He also touched upon the topics such as analytical skills, positivity, multi-disciplinary approach and unity.
The workshop received a huge response from the students. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Co-ordinator of the unit proposed vote of thanks.

“Tech Yuva 2017 Inter-collegiate Competitions “ held at Kaveri College



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce conducted Tech Yuva 2017 Inter-collegiate competitions in Computer Application on Saturday, 28th January 2017. The competition was inaugurated by Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar. In his inaugural speech,
Dr. S. B. Kharosekar said that such competitions enhance student’s subject knowledge, presentation skills and communication skills. He also gave some tips to the participants and told them that mistakes are a crucial step in learning, growing, and improving oneself. Mrs. Sujata Bachhav Coordinator BCA gave an insight of the various competitions conducted like Blind C, Powerpoint presentation competition and web designing. The competition was judged by Dr. Kavita Khobragade, Associate Professor at Fergusson College Pune. She also gave some tips to the participants and told them that choose visuals wisely ,Plan the structure - sections, order, headings, intro, middle and close, Be firm, be confident and be in control.

The topics for PowerPoint Presentation Competition were 5G Mobile Networks, Cashless Transaction, E-Governance, Web Technology- Services and for Web Designing the topics were Digital India, e-Resources in the field of education  and Latest Gadgets and Technologies.
Total 13 participants participated in the competitions from various colleges of Pune like, Sinhagad Arts and Commerce College, Indira College, Maharastra mitramandal College of Commerce, Fergusson College and Kaveri College. Shubham Patil and Vishal Pachpinde from Indira College bagged the first prize in Web Designing Competition. Sidhesh Kasturkar and Harshita Chandani from Ferguson college  won the first place in Power Point Presentation  competition and Surbhi Saurav and Sanjana Singh from MMCC stood second in ppt. In Blind C competition Sanjana Singh of MMCC won the first place and Ninad Sumant of Kaveri college won the second position.
Ms. Chaithra Uchil compeered  the programme and Ms. Vandana Upadhya  proposed vote of thanks.
