NO MOTOR VEHICLE DAY IN KAVERI COLLEGE

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune observed No Motor Vehicle Day on Saturday, 25th July 2015. The purpose of this activity was to reduce air pollution and to create awareness about conservation of natural resources among the students and faculty members.  Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, staff members and all students made this activity a great success by commuting to the college by walking,  using bicycles and  public transport. The activity was coordinated by NSS students under the guidance of Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal and NSS Programme Officer Mr. Anand Buddhikot.

Orientation Programme for the First Year students of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, conducted the Orientation Programme for the first year students of B.Com, B.Sc., BCA, BBA and BA and their parents on 13th July, 2015 in the college auditorium.
Mr. Kushal Hegde, Hon. President, Kannada Sangha Pune was the Chief Guest.  Smt. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune and Mr. B.B. Rao, Hon. Treasurer Kannada Sangha Pune were the Guests of Honour for the programme. Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Teachers and alumni were present on this ocassion.  The first year students and their parents in large number attended the programme.
In her welcome speech, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty appealed the students to make best use of all the facilitates and activities offered by the college for holistic development. Mr. Kushal Hegde in his address gave information about the establishment and growth of Kannada Sangha Pune.
Smt. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune motivated the students, through story and said, “Never give up, try hard to achieve success.” She also asked students to make use of Kaveri Kalangan to showcase their cultural talents. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, in his speech appealed the parents to improve and develop communication with their wards. He further said that it will boost their confidence and they will feel secured. He also gave some important tips to the students for the personality development and ultimately achieve success in life.
On this occasion, two of the alumni of the college, Ms. Vaishnavi Pawase, and Mr. Shreyas Deshpande shared their experiences about the college and stressed upon the immense contribution of the college in their overall progress. Two parents and two students from the audience also expressed thier satisfaction of choosing this college and promised to achieve excellence in the years to come. The glimpses of various events and activities to be carried out by the college in the academic year ahead were presented by Ms. Sayee Kulkarni.
Ms. Sayee Kulkarni compered the programme while Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Co-ordinator, BA proposed the vote of thanks.

Kaveri Alumni Felicitate Ph.D Awardees


On 4th July, 2015 the Alumni Association of Kaveri college of Arts, Science and Commerce, felicitated the teachers who are awarded with ‘Doctorate of Philosophy’ (Ph. D) degree recently. Mr. Charles Valentine, Secretary of the Alumni Association gave welcome speech on this occasion.   Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, the three satkar murti Dr. Mr. Anil Kamlapure, Dr. Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar, Dr. Mrs.  Jayashri Bangali, Staff members and the general body members of the Alumni Association were present on this occasion.
Principal Dr. Kharosekar, in his address said that it is for the first time in his professional career he is witnessing students felicitating their teachers. He appraised the teachers for their achievement and he also appreciated the initiative taken by Alumni Association of the college. Felicitation was done at the hands of Principal. The teachers who were felicitated shared their experiences and said don’t do research for the sake of monetary gain but do it with passion. Without hardships and dedication it is not possible, they further added.

“Yoga Every Day, Keeps Doctor Away!” - Dr. S. B. Kharosekar

“Yoga Every Day, Keeps Doctor Away!” says Principal, Dr. S. B. Kharosekar at the celebration of 1st International Yoga day in Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 21st June, 2015.  On this occasion, Dr. Kharosekar expressed importance of Yoga for healthy life. He also said that Yoga keeps us mentally and spiritually balanced. He assured that different Yoga activities will be conducted throughout the year in the college.  The event was organised in association with Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center.
The inauguration took place at the hands of Mr. B.B. Rao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Pune in the presence of Dr. A. J. Thanawala, & Dr.Neelam Kolate from Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center. Dr. S.G. Bapat, Founder and Director, Business Ethics Foundation, Pune, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, and Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, were present on this occasion. The teaching, non-teaching staff members and students participated in large numbers in the event. On this occasion, Dr. Thanawala said that Yoga is our birth right and International Yoga day is golden day in the history of mankind. He also said that transformation of mind is the greatest miracle which can be achieved through ancient science of Yoga. Dr. Neelam Kolate shared her experiences of being attracted towards practicing Yoga. She said that Yoga helps in curing many chronic and incurable diseases. Dr. S. G. Bapat highlighted the importance of Spiritual Management in our life.

The participants were given inputs on Yoga through visual presentation. The event concluded with the Yoga demonstration session including Suryanamaskar, Meditation and simple asanas for the participants. Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Yogeshwari Dannak compeered the program.

Kaveri College won the first prize in the Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition conducted by Thomas Cook Centre of Learning at Ness Wadia College

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce won the first prize in the Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition conducted by Thomas Cook Centre of Learning at Ness Wadia College, Pune. A team comprising of two students namely, Shaltiel Samudre of F.Y.BCom and Sumant Sen of F.Y.B.A participated in the quiz. The quiz was based on India, World Geography and Current Affairs.  24 teams from various colleges of Pune
participated in this competition which comprised. Kaveri Team won the first prize after qualifying each round of Written elimination round, Visual question round, Video round, and Rapid Fire round brilliantly out of the very talented 5 teams which reached the final round. The team received a Rolling Shield, Certificates and a goody bag.
Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal of the College and all the staff members of the college congratulated the winning team on this occasion.

Kaveri College conducted a Certificate Course in Business Ethics

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Science & Commerce in association with Business Ethics Foundation, Pune conducted a ‘Certificate Course in Business Ethics’ for the students of the college 9th and 10th Feb, 2015. Eminent Speakers like Corporate Trainers, Management Consultants and Soft Skills Trainers were the speakers for the course. They shared their expert knowledge on various topics.
Dr. Rashmi Hebalkar took the first session on ‘Concepts and Elements of Ethics and Business Ethics’.  In the second session of the first day, Dr. Dipti Tulpule conducted a session on the topic ‘Corporate Governance’ & ‘Research in Ethics’.  Activities and film screening related to the topics were also taken by the Trainers.
On the second day, Dr. A.M. Joshi conducted the third session on ‘Cases in Business Ethics. Mr. Narayan Gune conducted the last session on ‘Whistle Blowing’ ‘Ethics Audit’ and also conducted a quiz on Business Ethics.
The workshop received a huge response from the students which was appreciated by Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal of the college. Ms. Shweta Bapat, Co-ordinator, BBA and her team members took special efforts to organize this workshop.

He expressed that he would share about Kaveri’s glory with other institutes during his speeches.  In his address, Mr. Bhurke advised the students to be lifelong learners and learn management skills. He expressed that Kaveri College will have growth based on excellence in manifolds in years to come. He also appreciated the commitment of young teachers of Kaveri in shaping the young minds through value driven education. Also, he was impressed with the
  annual report presentation. Around 300 students were awarded in various categories like Academics, Sports, NSS and Yuva Spandan at the hands of the chief guest. Ms. Revathi Padmanabhan of T.Y.BCom was chosen as the ‘Best All Rounder Student’ and Ms. Parnavi Deshpande of T.Y. BCom was chosen as the ‘Best Outgoing Student’ among the students of Kaveri College. While Ms. Vaishnavi Pawase of T.Y.BCom was chosen as the ‘Most Outgoing Student’ under the Vishnu Moreshwar Karmarkar Award and Mr. Dinesh Kashyap of T.Y.BCom was chosen for the prize of ‘Best Outstanding Sportsmen’ of the year under the Sunita Vishnu Karmarkar Award. Ms. Vaishnavi Pawase from T.Y.BCom, University Representative, while sharing her experience with the audience said that Kaveri was her second home. She would always like to be associated with Kaveri in years to come. She thanked the Management, Principal and the Staff for her overall development. Mr. Sankalp Mahabaleshwarkar from T.Y.B.Com, Cultural Representative said, “The experience which I obtained in the past years is unforgettable. I have developed as an all rounder. I will definitely miss the moments spent in the college.” He wholeheartedly thanked Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal and the staff members who were responsible for this change.

Ms. Muckta Karmarkar presented the annual report in an audiovisual form which received a huge applause from the audience. The audience was glued to their seats for watching the presentation which was full of the happenings of the past year. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President Kannada Sangha, in his address congratulated ‘Team Kharosekar’ for striving hard to take Kaveri College towards the path of success. Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice- President, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Mr. B. Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Mr. Shrinivas Alva, Jt. Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Mr. Ramdas Acharya, PRO, Kannada Sangha and Dr. S.G. Bapat, Member- Advisory Committee and Research Committee graced the occasion with their valued presence.  Ms. Pooja Ambole compeered the programme and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice- Principal gave vote of thanks. The ceremony ended with the recital of Vande Mataram.

20 colleges participate in the Inter-college Project Competition arranged at Kaveri College

The Project Competition conducted by Kaveri College of Science and Commerce had an overwhelming response with 20 participating teams, on 30th Jan, 2015. The inauguration of the competition took place at the hands Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal Kaveri College. Ms. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-principal Ms. Shilpa Khadilkar, Head, Project Competition and other staff members were present on this occasion.  It was judged by Mrs. Chitra Nagarkar, HOD Computer Science, Garware College and Mrs Pallavi Joshi faculty member of the college.
The participants presented their projects on topics like Agrotech - useful for the farmers to sell their goods, Technovision- useful for blind people to read the text, Football Fantasy League based on Barclay’s Football League, Medicine Scheduler – useful for tracking the consumption of medicine by the patients, Vault, Road Traffic Offences, Security Tool, Criminal DBManager, Fitness guide, Task monitoring, Connectories, Incident Tracking System, Android movie maker, Gime Distribution Mapping, Academics, Lifesaving  Network, E-Authors, interface for Nursery Communication, Nish Chat Room etc.
Ms. Mayura Adya and Ms. Surabhi Pandit of Sinhagad College won the 1st prize for their project on ‘Medicine Scheduler’ in the competition. Mr. Saurabh Kulkarni, Mr.Shantanu Patwardhan and Mr. Rohan Adhyapak of PVG College won the second prize on their project ‘Android Movie Maker’.
Various colleges like Sinhgad College, PVG College, H.V. Desai College, Abeda Inamdar Senior College, MMCC, Indira College, etc. participated in the competition. Ms. Chitra Alavani compeered the event and Ms. Jayashri Bangali delivered the vote of thanks.

Kaveri College conducts Inter-college Paper Presentation and Poster Competition

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce under Science Association conducted the Inter-college Paper Presentation and Poster Competition on 30th Jan, 2015 and 31st Jan, 2015. The inauguration of the competition took place at the hands Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal Kaveri College. Ms. Jayashri Bangali, Head, Paper Presentation Competition, Ms. Vaishali Sayankar, Head, Poster Competition, and other staff members were present on this occasion.  
The topics of the paper presentation competition were Wearable Technology, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Role of Electronics in Agriculture and Security Systems in Homes and Buildings. Out of the 7 participating teams, Ms. Aparna Gawade, Ms. Snehal Pardeshi, and Ms. Mohini Dube of Saint Mira’s Girls College, Pune won the 1st prize and Ms. Prachi Dube and Ms. Sukhada Joshi of Kaveri College won the 2nd prize. The competition was judged by Dr. Neha Deshpande, Asst Prof, Electronics, Abasaheb Garware College. 
Simulations- big data with 5 ‘V’s, 3D transformation- application of rubik cube, Graph Colouring – Sudoku application, etc. were the topics for the poster competition. Ms. Seema Deshpande and Ms. Tejaswini Sengoankar of Kaveri College won the 1st prize and Mr. Pratik Jain and Mr. Niranjan Choudhary of Modern College won the 2nd prize for the poster competition. There were 4 teams for the competition judged by Ms. Charuta Dabir, Fergusson College.

The competitions received good response from various colleges like Sinhgad College, PVG College, H.V. Desai College, Abeda Inamdar Senior College, MMCC, Indira College, etc.  situated in Pune.

6th Inter-college Paper Presentation Competition held at Kaveri College

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce organized the 6th Inter-college paper Presentation Competition on 28nd January, 2015. The inauguration took place at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Ms. Deepa Sathe, Programme Co-ordinator, Staff members and all the participating teams were present on this occasion. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar wished best of luck to all the participating teams and highlighted the importance of such competitions in the life of the students.
Seven teams from various colleges of Pune like Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, Modern College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pratibha College of Commerce & Computer Studies, Kaveri College, etc. participated in the competition. Mrs. Marcelle Samuel, Mrs. Sharayu Bhakare from Symbiosys College of Arts and Commerce judged the competition.
Ms. Sayali Bapat and Mr. Sandeep Kumar  of Modern College of Arts, Commerce  &                       Science bagged the 1st prize for their excellent presentation on the topic ‘Indian Education System – addressing the Skill Gap’ whereas Mr.  Sumant  Sen and Ms. Revathi Padmanabhan of Kaveri College of Science and Commerce bagged the 2nd prize for their splendid presentation on the topic ‘Planning Commission  v/s NITI Aayog – A Comparative Study’.
All the teams performed brilliantly by presenting the research papers on the topics like Commercialization of Sports in India, Green Consumerism, Make in India, which were given for the competition.
Ms. Deepa Sathe proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Shruti Swaminathan (S.Y.B.Com) and Ms. Nikita Naik (S.Y.BBA) compered the competition.

National Level Workshop on “BIG DATA Analytics” at Kaveri College of Science and Commerce

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Quality Improvement Programme, organized two days National Level Workshop on “Big Data Analytics” on 23rd Jan and 24th Jan, 2015.

Inauguration of this workshop was done at the hands of Hon. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha. Hon. Mr. B. Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Kaveri College, and Mrs. Sujata Bacchav, Convener, National Level Workshop were present for the occasion.

The programme started with the recitation of ‘University Song’. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Sujata Bacchav gave a brief introduction about the workshop.

On the first day, Mr. Yogesh Dandvate, Senior Architect, ISERTIS Solutions, gave information about BIG DATA. He explained history, concept, application, source and challenges of BIG DATA.  The second day commenced with a session about software -R Studio. He demonstrated the steps of data processing by Big data algorithms with the help of R Studio. He also conducted the hands on session for the participants.    

This workshop received a very good response from the participants coming from various colleges of Pune and other places from Maharashtra.

Dr. S.B. Kharosekar congratulated all the participants. All the participants received participation certificates at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty in the Valedictory session.  Mrs. Sujata Bacchav took review of the workshop and Mrs. Shilpa Khadilkar gave vote of thanks. The inaugural session was compeered by Mrs. Ishita Dixit and the valedictory session was compeered by Ms. Sneha Govande.   The workshop concluded by the recitation of ‘Vande Mataram’ song.

Two Days National Level Workshop on Big Data Analytics at Kaveri College

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce, organized “Two Days National Level Workshop on ‘Big Data Analytics’ on 23rd and 24th January, 2015, under Quality Improvement Programme, of Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Mr. Kushal Hegade, President, Kannada Sangha, Pune. will inaugurate  the workshop. In the two days workshop, eminent Resource persons like Mr. Sanjay Sane, Trainer & Consultant , Sane’s  Academy  Of  Statistics and    Mr. Yogesh  Dandawate,  Senior  Architect, Icertis solutions are going to conduct sessions.

Any Research Scholar or PG Student & staff from Engineering colleges or Science colleges can attend this workshop.

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce commemorate 151st Swami Vivekananda Jayanti with -‘Yuva Saptah’

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce commemorated 152st Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand by hosting Yuva Saptah , weeklong activities including the lectures, Tilgul distribution and Blood Donation camp during 12-17 January,2015.

On 12th January, 2015, the inauguration of Yuva Saptah’ was done at the hands of Chief Guest Mr. Rajkumar Kadam, Professor and HOD, Vidya Pratisthan’s Art, Science & Commerce, Baramati.  Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal of the college presided over the function. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, Program Officer, Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Asst. Program Officer, Teachers, and students, were present on the occasion.   Prof. Mr. Anand Buddhikot, Programme Officer, National Service Scheme gave the introduction and the objective behind organizing Yuva Saptah.
Mr. Rajkumar Kadam, in his inspiring speech “Spandane Yuva Manachi”, shared some anecdotes from Swamiji’s life and his thoughts on building the nation through youth by narrating many incidents from Swamiji’s life. While focusing on NSS activities, he expressed the thought that NSS helps to nourish good qualities in youth. On 13th January , Mrs. Rupali Avachare presented the programme  “Thode Aasu, Thode Hasu” and shared various stories and poems  with its meaning. On 14th January, Principal Somprakash Kenjale explained in detail legal aspect of ‘Right to Information’, precaution to be taken and procedure to get information from Information Officer. He answered queries of the participants. On 15th January A very innovative cultural activity on the occasion of Makar Sankranti  of Tilgul distribution to the senior citizens was arranged at “Matoshri” Ashram by the Volunteers. On 16th January, Mr. Kalaynraman created awareness among the students about the Helmate and  its usefulness. He demonstrated the test areas to be checked while purchasing the helmate and told about precaution to be taken while driving.
The Youth Week ended with the Blood donation camp arranged by the NSS dept. College Staff and the students donated blood during this camp. Total 63 donors donated blood in the Blood donation camp.
All the activities of the Youth week were efficiently managed and conducted by Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, Ms. Manasi Joshi, Asst. PO and their team under the able guidance of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar.



Kaveri College organizes Dr. Babasaheb Jaykar lecture series

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science & Commerce and Bahishal Shikshan Mandal (SPPU) jointly organized Dr. Babasaheb Jaykar lecture series on
12th January to 14th January,2014. The subjects for the competition were ‘Spandane Yuva manachi, ‘Thode asu thode hasu’  and ‘Rights to Information’.

Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Ms. Suchismita Mohanty,Vice Principal, Kaveri College, Ms. Sujata. Bachhav, Chair Person, Bahishal Shikshan Center, Staff members and participants were present during the inauguration ceremony. The inauguration ceremony commemorated with deep prajwalan.
In the first session, Mr. Rajkumar Kadam gave his insights on the meaning of youth. He said that through NSS a group of vigilant citizens are created. He also gave information about the great  work done by Swami Vivekananda, as it was the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Ms. Rupali Avachare, in the second session, gave a lecture of ‘Thode asu thode hasu’ .She narrated poems and stories on life. There after she also  recited few poems on ‘mother’ as an idol.
Mr. Somshekhar Kenjale, Principal,Someshwar College conducted the third session on ‘Right to Information” He explained the law of ‘Right to Information’ to the students and also enumerated the procedure to acquire information from the Public Information Officer. Mr. Kenjale also told the precautions which shall be taken while acquiring information and also gave answers to the queries raised by the students.
Ms. Vaishali Sayankar compeered the sessions and Ms. Sujata Bacchav, Co-ordinator of the programme,  gave the vote of thanks.

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce arranged a One Day Workshop on Indian Women at risk in Cyber Space

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce arranged a one day women’s personality development workshop on 10th Jan, 2015. The topic of the workshop was “Indian Women at risk in Cyber Space” was arranged on. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Trustee Kannada Sangha and Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Science and Commerce. Mrs. Chitra Alavani, Student Welfare Officer of the college, Staff Members and the participants were present for the workshop.
Dr. Kharosekar gave introduction about the workshop and the purpose of organizing it for girl students. Mrs. Radhika Sharma informed the students that cyber crimes against women are on the raise and women have been drastically victimized in the cyberspace. Especially Indian women are at more risk due to the social stigma they have to face and less awareness about the law.
The first and second session was conducted by Adv. Mr. Sunil Gokhale, a Practitioner Lawyer. He gave information about the different cyber crimes that can happen with the women. The crimes include phishing, Harassment via e-mails, Cyber-stalking, Cyber pornography, Defamation, Morphing, Email spoofing etc. He talked about different IT Acts that are in place in our country protecting women against such crimes.
The third session was conducted by Ms. Manasi Kshirsagar, Founder and Director – MANASVI. She talked about the psychological effects on mind and body of women in specific due to accessing social networking sites beyond limits. She conducted group activities to let students know what type of stress the women may face after crime, its effect on the person as well as on family and surroundings. She guided the participants about the ways of facing such effects.
The workshop received an overwhelming response from the girl students of the college. Ms. Dhanashri Bhide compeered and Ms. Chitra Alavani, proposed the vote of thanks. 

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce conducted a Workshop on Employability, Entrepreneurship and Adolescent Education

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce and Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, Savitribai Phule Pune University jointly organized One Day Workshop on Employability, Entrepreneurship and Adolescent Education on 8th and 9th Jan, 2015.

The inauguration took place at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Science and Commerce. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Co-ordinator, Adult , Continuing Education and Extension Cell of the college, Faculty Members, and the Participants were present for the workshop.

The workshop started with a session on Employability by Mr. Abhay Sawant, Corporate Trainer. He interacted with the students about their expectations towards career and employment. He advised the participants that students as employees, should work with interest and willingness so that they climb the ladder of success. He also informed the participants about various employment opportunities. Mrs. Meghana Jain addressed the audience on the topic ‘Be a Entrepreneur’. She narrated many examples and stated that Concentration, Creativity, Innovation, Management and Quality Service are the requirements for successful entrepreneurship.

In the session on Adolescent Education, Dr. Madhavi Kharat expressed interesting facts about the personality development of individuals. For the satisfaction of the inner mind, she stressed the importance of Introspection.
Dr. Sanjeevani Rahane enlightened the participants on Skills Development focusing on Stress Management, Behavioural Skills, Decision Making, and Interpersonal Skills with a very effective PPT.
                 
 Mrs. Manasi Joshi proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Ishita Dixit compered the workshop.

“Kaveri College of Science and Commerce celebrates Intercollegiate Cultural extravaganza -Yuva Spandan”

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce’s brand intercollegiate cultural extravaganza- Yuva Spandan took place recently. The inauguration of the event took place at the hands of Mr. B.Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha and Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Trustee, Kannada Sangha graced the occasion. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar, Cultural Head, Teaching staff, non-teaching staff and all the enthusiastic volunteers and students of the college were present.
Yuva Spandan started with a fabulous Traditional Day Celebration, Nail Art and T-Shirt Designing Competition on 26th Dec, 2014 in the college campus. Varieties of traditional attires were presented by the participants. The titles of ‘Mr.Traditional’ and ‘Ms. Traditional’ were won by Mr. Akshay Pansare of T.Y.B.Sc and Ms. Aarti Kadam M.Sc.-I respectively. Ms. Riddhi Patel won the first prize of Rs. 500/-, Certificate and Trophy and Ms. Parnavi Deshpande won the second prize of a certificate and a trophy of Nail Art Competition. The winners of T-Shirt Designing were Mr. Shivkumar Sahani who won the first prize of Rs. 500/- , certificate and trophy and Mr. Shreyas Deshpande won the second prize of certificates and trophy.
The second day 27th Dec, 2014 showcased a spectacular Retro Day and Treasure Hunt Competition. The participants had showed their creativity in their dressing styles and their accessories. The title of ‘Mr. Rajesh Khanna’ was won by Mr.Shivkumar Sahani and Ms. Mumtaz was won by  Ms. Shraddha Pawar. The Treasure Hunt competition was won by Ms. Saniya Sohoni, Mr. Soham Deshmukh, Ms. Chaitrali Parkhi, and Mr. Saurabh Kshatriya with Rs. 1000/-, Certificate and Trophy.
 The third day began with a splendid General Quiz Competition followed by Street Play Competition and Fashion Show on 29th December, 2014.  A team from Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Commerce won the first prize and the runner up was a team from MIT School of Management. The first prize was Rs. 1000/-, certificate and trophy and the second prize was Rs. 500/-, certificate and trophy. All the participants received participation certificates. Street Play Competition got overwhelming response of 8 teams exhibiting various social issues. The Competition was judged by Ms. Dhanashri Hebalikar and Mr. Abhijeet Chaudhary.  The first Prize worth Rs 3000/-, certificates and Trophy was won by Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Engineering. The Second Prize Rs 2000/-, certificates and trophy was won by Modern Law College. The winners of the Fashion Show was a team from MIT (MACS). The title of Ms.Yuva Spandan was won by Ms. Aishwarya Kokate of Kaveri College and Mr. Yuva Spandan was from MIT College.  
The most exciting Annual Social Gathering and Dance Competition took place on 30th Dec,2014. Eye-catching performances of the students took place in the Annual Social Gathering. The most demanding fashion show was conducted. The title of Ms. Kaveri was won by Ms. Prachi Dalvi of TYBCOM and the title of Mr. Kaveri was won by Mr. Siddharth Dalbhanjan of SYBSC.
This grand event concluded with the intercollege dance competition. It included Solo Dance Competition and Group Dance Competition. The Competition was judged by Ms. Meghana Sabade and Ms. Gauri Swakul, the renowned dance trainers. The winners of Solo Dance competition were Mr. Nehul from Eklavya College securing 1st prize and Mr. Durvesh Gohad from Sinhagad College secured prize. The first prize comprised of Rs. 2000, a trophy and a certificate and the second prize comprised of Rs. 1000, a trophy and a certificate. The winners of Group Dance competition was a Mr. Hrishikesh Kadu’s team from MIT bagging the first prize and Ms. Sonal Jagtap’s team from Huzurpaga College securing the second prize.  The 1st prize comprised of Rs. 5000, a trophy and certificates and 2nd prize comprised of Rs. 3000, a trophy and certificates.
The event was generously sponsored by Syndicate Bank, Nirali Prakashan, and Wisdom Tree Book Store.
Participants from the renowned colleges of Pune like Sinhagad College, MIT, S.P. College, Shivrai Pratisthan College, Wadia College, Yashwantrao Mohite College, Mamsaheb Mohol and Kaveri College, etc participated in various events. The Yuva Spandan Student office bearers namely, Mr. Akshay Pansare (President), Ms. Charuta Chitale (Vice-President), Mr.Rajat Mare  (Working President), Mr. Sudhakar Shetty (Secretary), Ms. Vaishnavi Pawase (University Representative) and all other student volunteers of the college tirelessly worked for the event under the able leadership of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal and Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar, Cultural Head. All the teaching and the non-teaching staff contributed a lot for making this event successful. 

State Level Workshop on “Fast tracking your Research Capabilities using (SPSS)” at Kaveri College of Science and Commerce

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce’s Management Department in association with Savitribai Phule University of Pune’s Quality Improvement Programme, organized a two day State Level Workshop on “Fast Tracking your Research Capabilities using ‘Statistical Package for Social Sciences’(SPSS) on 9th & 10th December, 2014.

Inauguration of this workshop was done at the hands of President, Kannada Sangha, Mr. Kushal Hegde. Dr. A.B.Rao, a renowned educationist also graced the occasion as a key note speaker. The Resource Person for the workshop Dr. Roshan Kazi,Professor & HOD, MBA programme ,Allana Institute of Management Sciences,Pune along with Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Shweta Bapat, Convener, State Level Workshop were present for the occasion.

The programme started with lighting the ceremonial lamp and saraswati poojan. Mr. Kushal Hegde declared the 2 day State level workshop to be open in his speech. He also gave brief information about Kannada Sangha’s history and future plans. Dr. A.B. Rao, in his keynote speech gave important tips about proceeding in a research degree.  Dr. S.B. Kharosekar felicitated the dignitaries on the das and addressed the gathering about the workshop. Prof. Mrs. Shweta Bapat delivered welcome speech and gave a brief introduction about the workshop after which the recitation of ‘University Song’ was done. Mrs. Pooja Ambole compered for the function.

On the first day, Dr. Roshan Kazi, a sought after Statistics & SPSS trainer gave insights of features of SPSS in the first session. He then conducted a hands on session to deliberate the use of SPSS for data analysis in research, in the second half of the day.
The second day commenced with a hands on session of SPSS software and the advance utilities of it in research work by Dr. Roshan Kazi.

This workshop received a very good response of 32 participants coming from various colleges and Universities in the state of Maharashtra like Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Nashik, Osmanabad, Rahuri,etc .
Dr. S.B. Kharosekar congratulated all the participants. All the participants received participation certificates at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar in the Valedictory session. The Vice Principal, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty was present at this occasion.  Mrs. Shweta Bapat-Convener, took the review of the workshop and proposed the vote of thanks. The participants gave their feedback and appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee of the workshop.  Mrs.Yogeshwari Dannak compered for the programme. The workshop concluded by the recitation of ‘Vande Mataram’ song.

Special Winter Camp of Kaveri NSS Volunteers

The camp began on 4
th December 2014 with the inauguration at the hands of Principal Dr. S.B.
Kharosekar, in the presence of Vice-Principal Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, NSS PO Mr. Anand
Buddhikot, APO Mrs. Manasi Joshi,
Mr. Ravindra Kandhare, Sabhapati , Panchayat
Samitee, Mulshi,
Mr. Santosh Shinde, Sarpanch and Mr. S. N. Gundale, Gram Sevak, and other
Panchayat Samiti members along with other villagers. Dr. S. B. Kharosekar guided the volunteers
on the theme of
‘Swaccha Gaon and Swastha Gaon’. Sabhapati Mr. Ravindra Kandhare
highlighted the importance of NSS camp in all round development of volunteers and shared his
experience about the development of village through NSS camp.
During the camp several sessions were conducted on different topics like, Agnihotra-
a need of the hour’ by Ms. Manasi Joshi, AIDS Awareness Programme by Manavya Institute, Street play by Swamiraj Bhise,  ‘Clean India - Beautiful India’ by Mr. Govinda Bobade, ‘Rural development and plans’ by Mr. S. N. Gundale, Gram Sevak,  ‘Body Language’ by Ms. Yogeshwari Dannak, ‘Mahatma Gandhiji’s thought and Todays youth’ by Mr. Sandeep Barve, and ‘Students participation in NSS’ by Dr. R.B. Dere.
The
NSS volunteers presented a street play on the theme ‘Save Girl Child’. The NSS
volunteers cleaned the school campus and leveled the school play ground and Gram Panchayat
Campus.
The camp ended with a valedictory function on 10

Inauguration of the Special Winter Camp of Kaveri NSS Volunteers

Kaveri College of Science and Commerce has arranged Special Winter Camp of NSS Volunteers from 4th Dec, 2014 to 10th December, 2014 at Kasar Amboli, Tal. Mulshi, Dist. Pune. The camp was inaugurated with saraswati pujan and deep prajwalan  on 4th Dec, 2014 at the hands of the Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Science and Commerce in the presence of Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-principal, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Manasi Joshi ,Asst. Program Officer, Mr. Ravindra Kandhare, Sabhapati , Panchayat Samitee, Mulshi, Mr. Santosh Shinde, Sarpanch and Mr. S. N. Gundale, Gram Sevak, Mr. Sunil Vadkar, Adyaksha,Tanta Mukti , Mr. Sameer Shinde, Social Worker along with other villagers, faculty members of the college and all NSS Volunteers.

Mr. Buddhikot welcomed the dignitaries and all others present for the inauguration function and explained the purpose of the camp.  Dr. S. B. Kharosekar guided the volunteers on the theme of “Swaccha Gaon and swastha Gaon”. He assured the gram panchayat members of the village that Kaveri College students will devote 100% towards cleaning the village. He also assured that the College will have a long term association with the village and co-operate in developing it.

While addressing to the students the Sabhapati Mr.Ravindra Kandhare highlighted the importance of NSS camp in all round development of volunteers and shared his experience about the development of village through NSS Camp. He gave assurance about the support from the villagers for achieving objective of NSS camp. He confidently expressed that NSS volunteers of Kaveri College will definitely work for the realizing the theme, “Swaccha Bharat, Swastha Bharat”. Mr. Santosh  Shinde, Sarpanch also expressed his views on this occasion.

25 NSS volunteers from Kaveri College of Science and Commerce participated in the cleanliness drive conducted as part of “Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan in the village Kasar Amboli on 29th December, 2014. They collected all the plastics from Ghotawade phata till Kasar Amboli and cleaned the surrounding. Mr. Dyanoba Kambale, Ex. Sarpanch appreciated this work of NSS volunteers.

NSS Volunteer, Miss. Pratiksha compeered and proposed vote of thanks. The program ended with the recital of Vande Mataram.

Two Days State Level Workshop on “Fast Tracking Your Research Capabilities Using SPSS” organized by Kaveri College

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science & Commerce organizes the State Level Workshop on “Fast Tracking Your Research Capabilities Using SPSS” scheduled on 9th and 10th December, 2014.
The workshop aims at acquainting the participants with usefulness of SPSS software in research activities through the planned hands on sessions. The workshop will be open for Academicians, Corporate Professionals, and Post -Graduate Students, Research scholars and any others except Under-Graduate students.
The workshop will be inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Pune on 9th December, 2014.
In this two days workshop, Dr. Roshan Kazi will be guiding the participants. Dr.Kazi is a Professor and Head of Department, MBA Programme at Allana Institute of Management Sciences, Pune. He specializes in Marketing and Quantitative methods. He is a sought-after trainer, in statistical software SPSS.
